TAWAU: A young man who hugged his co-worker’s teenage granddaughter suffered severe injury on his left shoulder when he was attacked with an axe, allegedly by the co-worker, at Ladang Binuang, Kalabakan on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old victim was said to be have hugged the 16-year-old girl at their neighbour’s home around 4.33pm.
This angered the 42-year-old grandfather who rebuked the victim and demanded the latter explain the act.
Upset with the scolding, the victim allegedly stabbed the suspect with an object and this led to a struggle during which the suspect, who worked as a mechanic, then struck the victim with an axe. The badly injured victim was later taken to Tawau Hospital.
District police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said the case was being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing injury using weapon.
