KOTA KINABALU: Keningau police roped in five people, including a woman, and seized 59.6 grammes of syabu and an air gun from them, yesterday.
District Police chief DSP Robert Salisip @ David said that the five were arrested during a raid on an unnumbered house at Kampung Magatang, Keningau, after receiving a tip-off that they were involved in drug abuse.
“A police team raided the house at around 10.50pm on Thursday. During the raid, we found two plastic containers, one with 28 and the other with 11 transparent plastic bags containing crystal-like substance believed to be syabu inside.
“We also found a plastic diaper filled with 11 transparent plastic bags containing the same substance in it. The air gun was found hidden at the front verandah,” said Robert.
The five suspects, aged between 16 and 70, three of whom are illegal immigrants, will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act, 1952, which carries the death penalty, if found guilty.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman, the only one who tested positive for methamphetamine, is the owner of the drugs.
“They will be further remanded for investigation,” said Robert.
