KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has activated its flood operations rooms in Beaufort, Keningau, Tenom and Sipitang, starting February 13 following the floods in the districts.
Its senior general manager (asset management) Muhamad Nazri Pazil said the operations rooms would be open 24 hours daily to monitor and report on the status as well as coordinating supply recovery works in the affected areas.
“We have to temporarily shut down the electricity supply when the substations are flooded with water in several areas around Beaufort and Tenom.
“As a safety measure, customers are also advised to be careful in operating electrical equipment and not to go near any electrical installations during the flood,” he said in a press statement, yesterday.
He also added that Beaufort SESB office had to be temporarily closed due to the flood until further notice.
As of yesterday afternoon, some 2,500 registered SESB customers had no electricity supply due to the flood.
Muhamad Nazri also advised consumers to call SESB hotline 15454 or 088- 515000 for further information.
