BELURAN: Two robbers shot dead an oil palm plantation supervisor in front of the victim’s seven-year-old son here and grabbed RM31,000 from him.
Beluran police chief Deputy Superintendent Shivananthan Velautham said yesterday that
the incident happened when the 37-year-old victim, Edoh Sultan, received RM31,000 to pay estate workers on Thursday.
Edon was heading back to the Nam Wah plantation in a tractor with his son by his side when the gunmen struck about 5pm.
DSP Shivananthan said one of the men used a homemade shotgun.
Edoh was killed on the spot and the shotgun pellets injured his son on the hand.
The gunmen grabbed the money but let the boy go. He then ran 5km to the fuel depot for help.
DSP Shivananthan said police were only alerted about 10.30pm and it took them six hours to reach the site due to the poor road conditions in the area.
A man in his 40’s in connection with the case was detained by the police on Sunday.
