KOTA KINABALU: Thirty-four foreign workers were detained by police for misusing their social visit pass at two entertainment outlets here on Jan 30.
Among those apprehended were 12 women from China, 24 women from neighbouring countries and two local men believed to be managers of the entertainment outlets.
The operation, dubbed Ops Cantas/Ops Noda, was a joint operation with the Crime Investigation Department (D7) from Bukit Aman, Sabah police contingent and the city police contingent and was carried out around midnight on Jan 30.
A total of 111 people were inspected during the operations for numerous offences and police arrested the 34 foreign women for misusing their social visit pass.
Of those people who were rounded up for inspection, eight women and two men were also held for drug offences after their urine tested positive.
The foreign women would be handed to the Immigration Department for further action while the 10 people would be investigated under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
