KOTA KINABALU: The ‘Cultural Performance Show in Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Malaysia-China Diplomatic Relationship” which will be held at Wisma Hakka here on the evening of February 3.

The celebratory show, featuring more than 50 top-quality cultural and artistic performers from China as well as Sabah’s own cultural troupe, will be the first major event throughout Malaysia and China in the series of celebrations that will be held in both countries to commemorate this meaningful anniversary.

Organized by the China Overseas Exchange Association and the Consulate-General of China in Kuching, the celebratory show is free of charge and open to the public.

It is co-organised by Ma Zhong Friendship Association Sabah which has worked hard to bring this show to Sabah, which is among the very limited number of performances (Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Japan and Korea) undertaken by the Chinese troupe worldwide.

Yesterday, the honorary presidents and executive committee members of Ma Zhong Friendship Association Sabah led by its president, Dr Oh Ei Sun, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman at Sri Gaya and invited him to be the guest of honour of the event.

In accepting the invitation to be the guest of honour, the Chief Minister praised Ma Zhong Sabah’s efforts, particularly in making Sabah the first stop in the series of events celebrating the Malaysia-China 40th Diplomatic Anniversary, and also in bringing the exchanges among the civil societies of both countries even closer.

He said that what Ma Zhong Sabah had been doing was very important in making sure that Sabah become the preferred destination for China tourists and investors.

It is understood that in addition to the various federal and state cabinet ministers and other high officials from Malaysia, both the new ambassador of China to Malaysia, Huang Huikang, and the new Consul-General of China in Kuching, Liu Quan, will both attend the celebratory show as special guests.

Also attending yesterday’s courtesy call were Ma Zhong Sabah’s honorary presidents and advisors, Tan Sri Andrew Liew Sui Fatt J.P., Datuk Tay Jin Jwo, JP, Datuk Sia Hiong Tee and Datuk Mary Ling Nga Ming, organizing chairman cum general secretary Steven Liaw Chee Kok, vice president Chok Shau Hing, treasurer Albert Ting Sing Tai, public relations chairman Connie Chong Phui Yun, and committee members, Kevin Hing Yick Fong, Ricky Ting Sing Kee, Collin Wong Siew Fung, Andy Fang Hwa Jet, Michael Lim Chie Yen, Lee She Lip and Titi Lee Wei Yung.
