KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Suluk Ethnic Clan Association president Malvine Reyes @ Abdul Kahar Tan yesterday described the man who claimed to be their ‘secretary’ was an impersonator.
“He is not our secretary, so he has no right to use the association’s name for anything,” said Malvine when referring to one Mohd Zaki Harry Suisanto.
Earlier this week, Mohd Zaki, who claimed to be the association’s secretary, told the media that Api-Api assemblywoman Christina Liew is an Indonesian of Chinese descent who obtained Malaysian citizenship.
He however admitted that it was just a hearsay.
Liew has since denied the claim and explained her origin.
Malvine, who contacted The Borneo Post, said he had once appointed Mohd Zaki as the secretary, but was later stripped off the post for failing to perform after a year.
“He was appointed by me but never elected. I have dissolved the old lineup before the recent 13th general meeting and has since formed a new committee.
“In fact his (Mohd Zaki) name was never submitted to the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
“So that is why I was shocked when informed of the statement made by him using the association’s name. I just want to clarify that he is not a member or secretary of the association,” said Malvine.
