The Invader is almost submerged in water.
KOTA KINABALU: An Isuzu Invader was almost submerged in water as the driver attempted to cross several feet of flood water along Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting, but ended up plunging into a drain instead.
Fortunately the driver managed to escape from his vehicle.
The incident happened on Tuesday night, along the stretch of road between Bukit Padang leading to Donggongon, near Kampung Minintod.
Hours of rain since Tuesday had flooded a stretch of the road, reportedly around four feet deep, rendering it passable only to big lorries.
Smaller vehicles were forced to take a U-turn or make a detour yesterday morning as the flood had yet to subside.
