TAWAU: A 21-year-old motorcyclist, believed to be drunk, was severely injured while his pillion rider was killed in an accident involving a double-cab vehicle at Megah 2 Road, Taman Megah Jaya, on Monday at 10pm.
District police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said the driver of the car, a 22-year-old man was heading to Mile 3 Giant from Tiku Road, when at the scene of the incident the victim riding a motorcycle and coming from the opposite direction suddenly entered the double-cab’s lane.
Due to the accident, the victim identified as Nuhaimin bin Amirullah broke both his legs, and his wrist almost severed while the pillion rider died at the scene due to serious head injuries and a broken right thigh.
Awang said the rider did not possess a driving license and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
