TAWAU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB)consumers are asked to lodge police reports if they are approached by unknown individuals for payment on electricity meter inspection or changes following a recent impersonation case.
SESB senior general manager (asset management) Muhamad Nazri Pazil said yesterday they were also reminded that all payments could only be made at the cash counter at SESB offices while SESB staff were not allowed to receive any payment on behalf of the company.
“All works relating to electricity meter changes and inspection are undertaken by SESB staff and not by third parties,” he said in a statement here.
He believed the case of a criminal impersonating as a SESB employee had been solved following the arrest of a male suspect, a local in his 40s, at Jalan Habib Hussin here last Friday.
The suspect, who had previously deceived several consumers in Tawau and Lahad Datu districts, including domestic and commercial consumers, and on the enforcement authorities’ wanted list since early last year, was later brought to the Tawau district police headquarters, he said. — Bernama
