Goh conferred Dato’ Sri by Pahang Sultan

KOTA KINABALU: Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) president Datuk T C Goh has been bestowed the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) award which carries the title “Dato’ Sri” by the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, in conjunction with his 83rd birthday.

According to a statement issued by Goh’s office yesterday, he received the official notification sent to him by the Pahang State Secretary on Monday.

Goh will receive the award during an investiture ceremony to be held at the Palace of Sultan Ahmad Shah today.

Goh, who wears many hats as prominent corporate cum Chinese community leader and a philanthropist, is currently the president of Everise Ventures Sdn Bhd, the executive chairman of Globaltech Formation Bhd (GFB) which is listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia.

Formerly Temasek Formation Berhad, GFB businesses span from precision metal stamping, precision machining and assembly of radio frequency microwave, photonics and medical components, design and fabrication of precision tooling and automation equipment, injection moulding and blow moulding, test and assembly of semiconductors and smart card modules and design, manufacturing and assembly of automotive components and module/systems, and the operating and management of oil palm plantations and coal mining division which is involved in the extraction and marketing of coal.

Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Proreka (M) Sdn Bhd, recently successfully delivered Perdana, the official cars for the Malaysian government and received commendation from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammed and the current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

GBF is currently also exploring a potential joint venture project with the Pahang government to jointly develop the lands adjacent to  Kuantan Airport, to build medium cost houses.

Goh, 52, was first conferred the ‘ASDK’ title by the Governor of Sabah in 2004, followed by the title of ‘PGDK’ in 2006, also by the Governor of Sabah. In 2011, he was appointed Justice of Peace (JP) by the Governor of Melaka.

He is also well-known for his active role and contributions to the Chinese community of Sabah where he is currently also the president of the Federation of Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Associations, vice president of Kota Kinabalu Hin Ann Association, and adviser to various Chinese temples and education and cultural organizations.

Goh who is also vice president of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (FCAM) and the Federation of Hokkien Associations Malaysia (FHAM) was born in the historical city of Malacca in 1961. After graduating from Pay Fong High School in 1979, he joined the Royal Malaysian Police as a trainee inspector in 1982, where he was transferred to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to serve as a senior police officer at the Kepayan police headquarters. He subsequently left the police force and ventured into business in 1994 until today.

Goh is married to Datin Joanne Ho, who is also from Malacca, and together they have three children, two sons and a daughter.
