KOTA KINABALU: Inanam assemblyman Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen has expressed his unhappiness with the delay in the road upgrading works along Jalan Tuaran heading towards Menggatal Town.

Chia in a statement yesterday said he had received numerous calls from the public who had to endure massive jams due to prolonged and protracted road upgrades along Jalan Tuaran leading to Menggatal Town.

“It has been more than three weeks and heavy machinery, road cones as well as road blocks are still located at specific sites despite hardly any road workers working on it to get the job done immediately,” he lamented.

Chia urged the local authorities to send in personnel to supervise the works and to get it completed immediately as he was of the opinion that one month was far too long to upgrade less than three kilometers of road.

“What is the reason behind the delay which has caused hardship to traffic commuters who use the road daily to commute to work and to go back home? Jalan Tuaran is also the main road connecting other main towns and villagers.

“Some have to endure road congestion for more than three hours to get to and from home to work. This is definitely adding mental anxiety and anguish to road commuters and also reducing their daily productivity. This does not augurs well towards the state economy and the tourism industry,” he stressed.
