KOTA KINABALU: The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) returns to share the very best of European cinema and cultural diversity with Malaysian audiences.
Now in its 14th year in Malaysia, the EUFF will showcase 23 award-winning movies and documentaries from 20 European countries at Golden Screen Cinema, Suria Sabah here from December 5–11.
“Since its debut here in 2000, we have seen the EUFF grow not just in the number of participating countries, movies and screening venues, but also in terms of support from local moviegoers. It is an exciting platform for cultural exchange, bringing Europe closer to Malaysia by providing a cinematic window into our heritage, stunning landscapes and diverse narratives,” said Luc Vandebon, ambassador and head of the delegation of the European Union to Malaysia.
The eclectic line-up at this year’s EUFF features everything from comedy, romance and drama to animation and documentaries. Highlights include Austria’s Amour (winner of the 2013 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film), French animation The Day of the Crows, revenge-based thriller The Heineken Kidnapping and Martin Scorsese’s Easy Money.
Tickets for the EUFF will be priced at RM6, except for movies Kryptonite! (Italy), London The Modern Babylon (UK) and Sleep Tight (Spain) which will be screened for free. Tickets can be purchased via GSC E-payment at www.gsc.com.my, GSC Mobile App (iPhone and Android) or at participating GSC outlets.
EUFF viewers will also have a chance to win two Air France flight tickets to Paris and other great prizes by participating in the “Passport to Europe” competition. To enter, viewers will have to collect as many destination stamps at the EUFF (ie movie ticket stubs) and affix them to the official contest form available on www.euff.com.my.
