KOTA KINABALU: PKR Sabah secretary cum National Supreme Council member Dr Roland Chia has urged the Barisan Nasional State Government to take collective responsibility in the railway tragedy in Putatan on Wednesday which resulted in the tragic death of a Hong Kong tourist.

He said that the days of investigations are over. There are two railway accidents happening within two years within the same area.

“Do we need to wait for a bus load of tourists or a bus load of students to meet the same fate before taking drastic action?”

“It is tough already for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment trying to woo foreign tourists to Sabah yet the tragic death of the foreign tourists will send negative news abroad. There must be more vigilant preventive measures to avoid such incidents,” he said .

He also said that it was high time the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Railways Department to do immediate remedy to avoid such tragic accidents to happen.

“There must be a collective responsibility in this matter. In developed democratic countries like Japan or England , the minister or the Secretary of State responsible will take the honorable step to make way. the Rakyat is waiting for an answer without more lives are lost.”
