PUTATAN: A Malaysia Airports employee died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, an hour after he was involved in a road accident at Kota Kinabalu-Putatan road, near Taman Jumbo early yesterday.

Evaristus Stephen, 35, died while being treated for head and body injuries around 4.30am.

Penampang police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh said police believed that based on initial investigation the victim had lost control of his Perodua Kenari car which skidded on the road and rammed into a pedestrian crossing signal on the left road shoulder around 3.30am.

“We believed that from police investigation the victim was on his way to Putatan from the city centre when he lost control of his vehicle.

“The victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries an hour later,” said Singh, urging eyewitness to come forward to assist police in their investigation.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
