LAHAD DATU: The ‘Ops Daulat’, launched specially to tackle intrusion by the Sulu terrorists in Kampung Tanduo, is the highest form of cooperation ever carried out between the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), said ATM chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zain.
He said through the cooperation, the two security agencies, as well as other agencies, worked together to defend the country’s sovereignty.
“As a result of our close cooperation through the Blue Ocean Strategy , we are able to work together to defend the country’s sovereignty,” he told a media conference which was also attended by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
It is the first media conference since the launch of a communication programme between ATM and
PDRM, another programme involving the two agencies under the National Blue Ocean Strategy to expand their programmes and activities to the
public.
Zulkifeli said the cooperation between the two agencies under the National
Blue Ocean Strategy had also been expanded to joint patrol between ATM and PDRM to address street crimes, and also joint training.
Meanwhile, Khalid said the close cooperation between ATM and PDRM in fighting the terrorist group in Kampung Tanduo served as a
model for future cooperation for the two agencies.
He said the cooperation between PDRM and ATM under the National Blue Ocean Strategy would not be confined to facing threats against
the country’s sovereignty, but
also joint patrol to address street
crimes.
“We have carried out joint
patrol in almost all major towns
and this will continue, and also on security at airports, where we now carry out joint patrol at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and will be extended to other international
airports in the country,” he added. — Bernama
